Indian cricketer Sanju Samson is unsure whether Chahal will play the 2nd T20 against Australia on Sunday. Chahal produced an outstanding performance, picking up 3 wickets and conceding just 25 runs in just 4 overs. This was Chahal’s best spell with the ball for the blue army in the series against Australia.

After opting to bat first, India posted a total of 161/7 on the board. KL Rahul opened with Dhawan for the first time against Australia. The former smashed 51 off just 40 balls whereas the latter got out for only 1 run. Virat Kohli, in one of those rare instances, failed to make an impact. He managed to contribute only 9 runs to the total. Ravindra Jadeja guided India to a total of 161, smashing 44 runs in just 23 balls.

In the final over, Jadeja got hit in the head and was seen limping thereafter. It felt that Jadeja had incurred a concussion. Jadeja was apparently asked by the physician prior to the innings about his well-being. To this, Jadeja replied that he was feeling dizzy. As per the rules, it was mandatory for him to discontinue. This is why Chahal was called in for Jadeja.

The decision to bring in Chahal created quite a stir among some current and former players. This happened because Jadeja did not undergo a concussion test in the break prior to his innings against Australia.

We will wait for the team management’s decision: Samson

Even though Chahal produced a match-winning performance with the ball, it is unlikely for him to play the 2nd T20I. Sanju Samson believes that it all depends on how Jadeja feels. Prior to the situation’s assessment, the management will make a call on whether Jadeja is fit to play or not. If he feels fine, which is quite likely, he will undoubtedly start for India. However, if things go south, Chahal might get to start for the team for the first time in the T20I series.

Samson also revealed that the players are working hard every day to cement their position in the team. With the T20 World Cup imminent, Samson wants to score as many runs as he can. He believes that victory is pivotal and that he wants to contribute to that as much as possible. With India having taken a 1-0 lead in the T20I series, they will look to wrap things up. The 2nd T20I is set to be played on Sunday.
