Schedule for 15th season of Indian T20 League announced

The schedule for the upcoming 15th season of the Indian T20 League has finally been announced. The tournament is set to get underway on March 26. As reported earlier, the opening game will be played between last year finalists Chennai and Kolkata. Chennai will enter the tournament as the defending champions. Only one game will be played on the first day. Two matches will be played on March 27, the first double-header of the season. The first game will be played between Delhi and Mumbai, while the second game will be between Punjab and Bangalore. Lucknow and Gujarat will clash on March 28, in their Indian T20 League debut. Meanwhile, in case of day game, the matches will begin at 3:30 PM, while night games will start at 7:30 PM

Last month, before the ITL mega auction, it was reported that the BCCI and the franchises have unanimously agreed to play the tournament in Maharashtra. Later on, the board announced that the league games will be played on three grounds of Mumbai and Pune. The games are set to be hosted at the Wankhede, D.Y.Patil, and the Maharashtra Cricket Association stadium. The same has been confirmed now.

Meanwhile, the teams have been divided into two groups of five each. Every team from the same group will play with each other twice and play once against four teams from another group. They will also face the  team in same row of the other group twice. In Group A, Mumbai, Kolkata, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Lucknow are slotted. On the other hand, Group B consists of Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Punjab, and Gujarat. Only the schedule for the league games have been announced. The playoff schedule is still awaited.
