Mohammad Rizwan was the lone warrior for Pakistan with the bat against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2022 final. The opening batter scored a half-century to keep the hopes alive for his team while chasing a mammoth of a total. However, he has faced a lot of backlashes from fans as it took him 49 deliveries to score 55 runs.

Earlier in the match, Sri Lanka fought back hard after losing early wickets. Half of their batting lineup was sent back for a total of 58 runs, but Wanindu Hasaranga and Bhanuka Rajapaksa got the hosts back into the game. They formed a crucial partnership of 58 runs for the sixth wicket. Hasaranag (36) was the next to depart for a team score of 116 in the 15th over.

Rajapaksa, on the other hand, pressed down the accelerator to complete his half-century. He ended with a score of 71 runs in 45 balls, helping Sri Lanka to a score of 170/6. The Pakistan bowlers lacked intent after dismissing five Sri Lankan batters early on.

In the chase, troubles continued for the men in green as they lost Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman early on. Rizwan had to stay at the crease to stabilize the innings, causing him to play with a low strike rate. However, the batter never took off and Pakistan eventually lost the match by 23 runs.

The side led by Babar Azam lacked confidence, which was evident in their body language. The team also dropped a few chances on the field which allowed Sri Lanka to get a few extra runs. In the end, however, Mohammad Rizwan was blamed for playing a slow knock. Fans were upset that he did not take more chances in the match.

"On Paper - Mohammad Rizwan has scored another T20I 50. In Reality - Mohammad Rizwan's sluggish innings has put Pakistan in deep waters," a fan wrote in a tweet. "Constructive criticism is always good. This has to be the most poor knock in a tournament Final. 55 off 49 while chasing 171? Seriously? Poor cricket Mohammad Rizwan," another fan wrote.
