Veteran Kiwi batsman Ross Taylor is not a part of the squad for the Twenty20 series against Pakistan. Kane Williamson and Trent Boult have been summoned back after the series against West Indies. Kane Williamson is also not available from the current second test against the West Indies. However, the 30-year-old is leading the side in the final two T20s.

Ross Taylor's unavailability will be because of the in-form Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips, said selector Gavin Larsen. The duo recorded 181 stand partnership for the third wicket against the West Indies last month. Taylor's omission is a significant hint that he might not be a part of the T20 World Cup next year. New Zealand has declared an 18-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan.

Mitchell Santner to lead New Zealand in first T20 International

Williamson inclusion is for the second and third match only. However, he withdrew from the ongoing second test against West Indies in Wellington. Mitchell Santner would be the stand-in captain of the side for the first match on December,18 in Auckland. Kane Williamson will potentially return for the other two games on December, 20 in Hamilton and December 22 in Napier.

Kiwi premier fast bowler Lockie Ferguson and also Bennett have been ruled out of the series because of injuries. This ensures a first international call-up for Jacob Duffy after impressing in the domestic circuit. The pacer finished as the second-highest wicket-taker in the Ford Trophy, a few months back. Reports reveal that Ferguson has a stress fracture in his back, whereas Bennett is out because of an abdominal tear.

The current NZ squad involved in the second test will not be available for the first Twenty20 game against Pakistan. Meanwhile, leg-spinners Ish Sodhi and Todd Astle are covering for Santner in the second and third match against Pakistan. Additionally, Blair Tickner, Mark Chapman, and all-rounder Doug Bracewell are also a part of the squad for the first T20I only.
