Shubman Gill scored his maiden international century in the ongoing third ODI between Zimbabwe and India. The three-match ODI series being played at Harare has seen some exceptional batting performances by the young batter. Gill has been in great form since the last few matches.

The 22-year-old batted at number three in the match and walked in after skipper KL Rahul (30) lost his wicket in the 15th over for a team score of 63. He instantly took control of the game and played with great intent. After the well-set Shikhar Dhawan (40) lost his wicket in the 21st over, he built a great partnership with Ishan Kishan.

The two played great a game and kept attacking the bowlers to put them under pressure. They added 143 runs in their partnership, with each scoring a half-century. Kishan (50) was dismissed shortly after completing his half-century, but Gill did not stop there. He continued to keep the boundaries flowing for the team.

Eventually, he completed his maiden international century in 82 deliveries. He finished with 130 runs in 97 balls, including 15 fours and a six. He helped the men in blue get to a good total of 289 runs in the first innings. India batted well but lost a few wickets in quick succession near the end of the innings.

In the meantime, Gill returned to the Indian ODI team during the series against the West Indies. He has been consistently good since, and he nearly missed out on a century in the Caribbean series. He then started off the Zimbabwe series with a half-century in the first match, where he opened the innings along with Dhawan.

Twitter has been all praises for the young batter. "We knew it was coming! Shubman Gill’s first international ton, and a great one at that! Plenty more to come no doubt. Brilliant stuff," Chloe-Amanda Bailey, a journalist, tweeted. "First of many for Shubman Gill. Serious class," wrote Harsha Bhogle.
