According to reports, the swashbuckling opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, is all set to replace Ruturaj Gaikwad as the reserve player in India's Test Championship final lineup. Before the inclusion of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Gaikwad, Mukesh Kumar, and Suryakumar Yadav were included on the list of reserves for the massive match versus Australia at The Oval in London.

Gaikwad informed the Cricket Board of India that he won't be able to travel to London till June 5 since he is getting married, according to a story in The Indian Express. The Test Championship final will begin on June 7, hence head coach Rahul Dravid has requested a substitute from the BCCI.

The Indian Cricket Board source informed the media about this recent change and the real reason behind this. “He (Jaiswal) will be joining the Indian team as Gaikwad has informed us that he won’t be able to fly due to his marriage. He would be able to join the team post-June 5. (But) Coach Rahul Dravid took a call, asking the selectors to pick a replacement. So, Jaiswal will now fly to London soon.” 

Jaiswal, who participated in IPL 2023 for the Rajasthan Royals, garnered attention for his astounding performance with the bat. The southpaw averaged 48.08 runs in 14 games for a total of 625 runs. The fastest fifty in IPL history, a century and a 13-ball fifty, were both scored by the RR opener. Jaiswal additionally produced a respectable performance in the Ranji Trophy last year, scoring 404 runs in a total of five matches.

The set of players have already arrived in London to prepare themselves for the thrilling encounter against Australia. While Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara is already in England for his County stint, players like Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, Umesh Yadav, and Mohammed Siraj have begun training for the championship game. According to recent reports, Sunday morning is when Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan are most likely to travel to England. It is still unclear if Suryakumar will depart alongside Rohit and Ishan or if he will join the team later.

Very good decision. National duty should come first. He can easily learn it from MSD. He was in Australia with Indian team and even did not fly back to India when his daughter was born.
