Notably, Gambhir was the mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants franchise in the Indian Premier League 2023. The team made it to the playoffs of the tournament for the second consecutive time after their debut in the Indian Premier League last year during the edition of 2022.
Although they got knocked out with a defeat in the eliminator match of the tournament against the five-time champions Mumbai Indians. Rohit Sharma’s men won the eliminator by a big margin of 81 runs to make it to the second qualifier of the tournament.
Coming back to Gautam Gambhir, he was also in the controversial headlines of social media after a heated verbal altercation with the former RCB skipper and batting superstar Virat Kohli. The incident happened during a league match at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. In this match, RCB defeated LSG while defending a very low total.
The controversy started between LSG pacer Naveen ul Haq and RCB star Virat Kohli which eventually led to a heated confrontation between LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir and RCB’s Virat Kohli.
