Pakistan lead pacer Shaheen Afridi has been injured since July this year. He got injured in a Test match in Sri Lanka and has missed games since then. The left-arm pacer was traveling with the team till the Asia Cup 2022. During the tournament, he was advised to travel to London for treatment.
Even though there is no update on his fitness, the 22-year-old has been included in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 squad. As reported by Dawn, the Khyber Agency-born player will be allowed by the authorities to start bowling next month. Meanwhile, the former Pakistan skipper had claimed that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) isn't helping Shaheen with the rehabilitation process.
The 2009 20-20 World Cup winner also claims that Shaheen is bearing tickets and accommodation expenses alone. The former further added that he contacted a doctor for Shaheen.
“That boy has arrived London bearing his own ticket expenses, accommodation expenses, and I had to arrange for a doctor for him as well, with whom he (Shaheen) later contacted. He’s managing everything on his own. PCB has no role to play in it,” revealed Afridi.

It will be interesting to see whether Shaheen Afridi will be able to play in the 20-20 World Cup in Australia next month or not. The knee injury has already ruled out India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. He got injured when the players participated in the unwinding activity during the Asia Cup 2022 in the UAE. In the meantime, it is pretty clear that the Lahore Qalandars skipper in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will miss the T20I series against England.
The series consists of seven games which will start on September 20. The first four games will be played in Karachi while the rest will be played in Lahore. This series will also be a preparation for the upcoming world for both teams.
