The ongoing Test match of India's tour of England has seen some exciting batting performances so far. Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Jonny Bairstow, and Cheteshwar Pujara all have looked comfortable while batting. However, Shreyas Iyer has not been able to score a lot of runs in the match.

The English bowlers seemed to have found his weakness, short balls. The varying bounce at the Edgbaston Stadium has added to the batter's troubles. In both innings of the match, Iyer lost his wicket to short balls. A short ball touched his gloves before dropping down the leg side to the wicketkeeper in the first innings. In the next innings, they fired him with back-to-back bouncers. He eventually tried to pull one and hit in the hands of James Anderson at mid-wicket.

Fans have now compared him to Mohammed Shami, India's leading veteran fast bowler and tailender. They believe Shami is a better player of short balls than Shreyas Iyer. In his brief stay at the crease in each innings, he hit a few pull and hook shots that impressed everyone. He scored 16 and 13 runs in the game, respectively. On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer scored 15 and 19 runs, respectively.

Tweets started flowing in to draw compression between the two players. "I swear to everything good on God's green Earth, even Bumrah and Shami play short ball better than Shreyas Iyer," a fan wrote. A user even suggested that Shami should teach Shreyas Iyer how to tackle short balls.

In the meantime, the Indian team scored 416 runs in the first innings, thanks to brilliant centuries by Rishabh Pant (146 runs in 111 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (104 runs in 194 balls). England then had a batting collapse, but Jonny Bairstow (106 runs in 140 balls) hit a century to help them reach a score of 284 runs.

Cheteshwar Pujara (66 runs in 168 balls) and Pant (57 runs in 86 balls) helped India score 245 runs in the following innings. India set a target of 378 runs for England to chase down.
