Shane Warne has selected his best Australia playing XI for the third Test at Sydney. He wants the selectors to eliminate Travis Head from the Australian Test side. The former Australia bowler wants Head to return to the Sheffield Shield because he wants the batsman to address his technique deficiency.
Shane Warne has also indicated the return of David Warner to open the innings with Marcus Harris. With this, Matthew Wade is now going to head back to his favourite number five spot for the upcoming matches.
Head is undoubtedly a future Australia captain: Shane Warne
Despite suggesting Travis Head be dropped, Shane Warne tagged the batsman as a future Australia captain. Head has scored a memorable century in the 2019 Boxing Day Test. However, the batsman has struggled to perform consistently over the last two years. Head has notched scores of 7, 38 and 17 through the first two Tests against India.
Travis Head has featured in 19 Test matches so far, averaging 39.75. He also ranks him among numerous modern greats at the same point in their career. His competence in getting out similarly has left several former Australia players disappointed. Veteran all-rounder Andrew Symonds also believes that Travis Head needs to head back to the domestic circuit to work on his technique. Symonds said that Head is struggling for confidence. The 27-year-old needs some time out of the side as it may do him a world of good.
The hosts are yet to confirm its playing XI for the upcoming Test against the Indians. The match is scheduled for this Thursday at the Sydney Cricket Ground. After Australia's eight-wicket defeat at the MCG, most experts clearly targeted the batting line-up.
In the last two Test matches against India, only one Aussie batsman in the top six has scored a half-century. Surprisingly, Joe Burns is expected to lose his spot in the team next week. Melbourne's defeat was the first where no Australian batsman reached fifty in a home Test since 1988. David Warner and Will Pucovski will be returning from injury, whereas Moises Henriques and Marcus Harris have been patiently waiting.
