Chennai won their first match of the Indian T20 league 2022 on Tuesday. They managed to beat Bangalore by 23 runs. This clinical victory comes as a huge confidence booster for them. This was also their newly-appointed skipper Ravindra Jadeja's first victory as captain

It was Shivam Dube who stole the show, as he scored a sensational 95 from just 46 balls. He struck five fours and eight sixes. His outstanding performance ensured that he won the player of the match award as well. As a matter of fact, the all-rounder is the second-highest run-scorer in the 2022 edition as of now.

In the five games in which he has played, Dube has scored 207 runs in five games at an average of 51.75. During the post-match presentation, he credited MS Dhoni for the improvement in his game. Dube also stated that he wanted to time the ball really well.

"We were looking for the first win and I am really happy that I contributed for the team. It's an honour for me. I am more focused this time and focusing on basics. I spoke to many seniors - Mahi bhai also helped me to improve the game. He said, 'Just be focused, just be still, just let the skill work in the game.' I wanted to time the ball really well. I tried to maintain by balance," said Shivam Dube.

He and Robin Uthappa had put together a 165-run partnership in the first innings. In the meanwhile, it is to be noted that several experts have gone on to draw parallels between the Chennai all-rounder and Yuvraj Singh. His batting technique reminds everyone of the legendary all-rounder. Thus, Dube drew light on the same.

"Yuvi pa is always a role model for a left-hander. Many people told me that I bat like him. As the situation demands, as the captain and coach tell me, I am ready to bat anywhere," he added. Chennai's next game is on April 17. They are slated to take on Gujarat.
