Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistani fast-bowler, has disclosed the name of the best Test skipper in the world. The iconic pacer was requested to tell his preference when he was interacting with his Twitter followers. Shoaib Akhtar has recently arranged a question-answer session and gave his fans the chance to ask him questions.
His followers and fans were respectfully obliged, and one of them asked him to name the best Test skipper today. To make it a little simpler for Shoaib Akhtar, the follower had even sent him a list of skippers to select from. He then had asked the Rawalpindi Express to choose the best skipper from the list with the names of Virat Kohli, Joe Root, and Kane Williamson.
Shoaib Akhtar selects Kane Williamson as best Test captain
In his answer, Shoaib Akhtar has selected New Zealand captain Kane Williamson as his preference for the best test captain at the moment. Well, not many will disagree with Shoaib Akhtar's selection. Particularly after Williamson's success as a batsman and skipper in the current season. Last month, he has scored a double century against West Indies before scoring a hundred against Pakistan in the first Test.
Brendon McCullum had handed over the reins of captaincy to Williamson before he resigned in 2016. And since then, Williamson has been incredibly good. New Zealand is currently in second place in the ICC Test Rankings. They can probably claim the first position of the table if they defeat Pakistan in the ongoing second test. Earlier this week, for the first time in his career, Williamson also became the top-ranked test batsman. Winning against Pakistan in the ongoing Test will further improve New Zealand's chances of winning the final of the ICC World Test Championship.
