Unpredictability and Pakistan cricket are synonymous terms and, they always go hand in hand too. If in the first T20I, Pakistan showed signs of returning to form, in the second game they seemed to be clueless on a pitch that favored spin at the Headingly to lose a match against England.
Cricketer-turned-expert Shoaib Akhtar has come hard down at the Pakistan team for not making the right decision at the toss. Babar Azam had won the coin toss but instead sent England in. The move by Azam certainly backfired as the home team posted a formidable score of 200 onboard.
Coincidentally, the visitors had batted in the first T20I and posted their highest ever score in the shortest format, and hence Akhtar feels this move by Pakistan management was a strange one indeed. In a video uploaded on his official Twitter account, he vented his frustration on the horrible decision taken by Azam at the toss.
In the run-chase too, Pakistan batters failed to find any momentum, as all-rounder Moeen Ali spun a web by picking two wickets and restricted the visitors to just 155.
Shoaib Akhtar expresses disappointment on Pakistan choosing to bowl first
If Pakistan could have won the second T20I, then they could have even sealed the series with a game to go. But no, instead the unpredictable nature of the Men in Green came to the fore, which had made Akhtar speechless.
“Such a poor decision by captain & the management by bowling 1st on a great batting pitch it’s beyond me just speechless. Everyone knows that the wicket is flat, I don’t know why you would bowl first on this track,” Akhtar said.
