It is worth noting that Jasprit Bumrah has been suffering from back issues for quite some time now. Earlier, he was ruled out of the T20 series against South Africa after he complained of back pain on the eve of the first match. It was followed by reports stating that he might get ruled out of the World Cup as well but Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid were optimistic about Bumrah’s recovery.
However, the injury has turned out to be a grave one and it could take 4-6 months for Bumrah to recover. Meanwhile, the Indian Cricket Board have also mentioned that Bumrah’s replacement would be announced soon. For the unversed, he had also missed the Asia Cup 2022 as he was undergoing rehab at National Cricket Academy.
He made his comeback ahead of the T20 series against Australia but the injury, once again, flared up after playing just two games. Notably, Bumrah has had back issues in the past as well and some experts believe that it is due to his front-on action.
Amid of all this, a year-old video of Shoaib Akhtar talking about Bumrah’s action has been surfacing on social media. In the video, Shoaib Akhtar could be heard talking about Bumrah’s front-on unorthodox action. He had also predicted that Bumrah’s back could get severely injured if the Indian Cricket Board didn’t manage him properly. Here’s a look at that video:
