Twitter reactions: Shreyas Iyer potential captaincy candidate for Kolkata in Indian T20 League 2022

While many teams were interested in having Shreyas Iyer in their team, Kolkata got him in the end. He was sold to them for a price of 12.25 crores and is likely to lead them in the coming season. His former team Delhi, among others, also looked interested in buying him.

Shreyas Iyer is currently playing for India against West Indies in a white-ball series. He got a chance in the third ODI where he scored 80 runs in a crunch situation. He won the man of the match award for his game-winning knock. India was able to white-wash the Windies in the ODI series in Ahmedabad. They now move to Kolkata to play the T20 games.

It is assumed that Iyer will now lead Kolkata for the 2022 season. He has led the Delhi team in the past and got them great results. He was the first skipper to lead Delhi to a final in 2020. Rishabh Pant was appointed as the captain in his absence in the first half of the 2021 season. Delhi continued with Pant as the skipper, and Shreyas Iyer moved on.

Kolkata also bought Pat Cummins for 7.25 crores, and the two can have a good run with the Kolkata team.
