Siddharth Kaul posts an emotional message after not getting a call from India's tour to Sri Lanka

After being ignored for a spot in the Indian team for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour, fast bowler Siddharth Kaul posted an emotional tweet. The Indian national selection committee led by Chetan Sharma has named a 20-member squad for the Sri Lanka tour on Thursday (June 10) evening. Considering the regular players are in the UK for the WTC and England series, the selectors named a second-string squad. The team includes all young players who performed well in the first half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

After being ignored for a spot in the Indian team for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour, fast bowler Siddharth Kaul posted an emotional tweet. The Indian national selection committee, led by Chetan Sharma, named a 20-member squad for the Sri Lanka tour. Considering the regular players are in the UK for the WTC and England series, the selectors named a second-string squad. The team includes all young players who performed well in the first half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

There are some players who have failed to make the cut in the squad. This includes the likes of fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat and all-rounder Rahul Tewatia. Another player who couldn't make it to the team was Siddharth Kaul. The fast bowler could only feature in 3 matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2021.

Siddharth Kaul has played in 3 ODI and 3 T20I games

The latest team announcement has certainly put Siddharth out of contention in the T20 World Cup squad as well. However, if he performs well in IPL 2021's second phase, then he could be included in the squad. The seventh edition of the T20 World Cup is also scheduled to be played in UAE. Siddharth Kaul has played in 3 ODI and as many T20I games. He has picked up four wickets for the country and last played a white-ball match for India in February 2019 against Australia. The pacer is yet to play his first Test for team India.

The Shikhar Dhawan-led Team India is going to tour Sri Lanka for 3 ODIs and as many T20Is in July. Veteran fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar was appointed Shikhar Dhawan's assistant for the tour. Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Nitish Rana and Chetan Sakariya are some of the new faces of the Team India squad. Prithvi Shaw, Manish Pandey, and Sanju Samson have also made a comeback in the squad after missing the England series. However, Shreyas Iyer has not found a spot in the team as he is still recovering from a shoulder injury. The three ODIs will be played on July 13, 16 and 18, while the T20Is will occur on July 21, 13 and 26, respectively. All the games will take place in one venue in Colombo.
