Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants locked horns in the 26th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023 at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur. The hosts’ skipper Sanju Samson won the flip of the coin and asked LSG to bat first. Batting first, the Super Giants posted a total of 154 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Later on, Rajasthan Royals failed to cross the line and lost the match by 10 runs; subsequently, although they kept the top spot in the points table of the tournament. Speaking of the entire action of the match, it was star opening batter Kyle Mayers who scored 51 runs off 42 balls with four boundaries and three sixes to his name. Other than him, skipper KL Rahul also scored 39 runs for LSG with four boundaries and a six. Apart from these two, Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran contributed with individual scores of 21 and 29 runs respectively. On the back of these knocks, the visitors managed to post the target of 155 runs for RR after scoring 154 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the first 20 overs of the game.
Senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin scalped two wickets for Rajasthan Royals in the first innings alongside one wicket each claimed by Trent Boult, Sandeep Sharma, and Jason Holder.
While chasing the target, Rajasthan Royals failed to cross the finishing line and fell 11 runs short of the target, and lost the match by 10 runs. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler played the crucial knocks of 44 and 40 runs respectively for RR. Other than these two, middle-order batter Devdutt Padikkal also contributed with 26 runs off 21 balls with four boundaries. But it couldn’t help RR to chase down the target after scoring 144 runs for the loss of six wickets in the entire 20 overs.
Eventually, LSG won the match by 10 runs and registered the fourth match in their sixth match of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League.
