The auction for the inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 League is underway at the Jio Convention Centre in Maharashtra. Five participating teams including Delhi, Gujarat, Mumbai, Bangalore, and UP are in contention to buy from the registered number of 409 players in the first-ever auction of the cash-rich Women’s 20-20 tournament.

Meanwhile, Bangalore has roped in the star Indian opener Smriti Mandhana for a whopping amount of INR 3.4 crores. Notably, she was registered in the marquee set bracket of INR 50 Lakhs. The Indian cricket fans were also overjoyed following this addition to the Bangalore camp and they took to Twitter to express their happiness with praising remarks for the star southpaw.

Apart from Smriti Mandhana, Bangalore camp has also bought the New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine, and star Aussie all-rounder Ellyse Perry alongside stunning Indian pacer Renuka Singh Thakur.

"Everyone knows Mandhana and Perry, we were pretty committed to the couple of people we wanted to get. we're very happy to get such quality players. it's a dream result for us to get Mandhana, Perry, and Devine. Smriti has got plenty of captaincy experience and is familiar with the Indian conditions so highly likely . Our job is to create a hero. We will be doing a roadshow going ahead, especially since it’s a very short period of time we have,” said Bangalore coach Mike Hesson in the side-lines of the Women’s T20 League 202.

Speaking of some other major bids in the auction, the skipper of the National side of the Indian women’s team, Harmanpreet Kaur will be playing in the colors of five-time men’s Indian T20 League champions, Mumbai.

Whereas, on the other hand, Australian all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner ended up with the second-highest bid in the first set of the auction with an INR 3.20 crore deal by Gujarat.
