West Indies vs India

India and West Indies locked horns in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown in Barbados. The visitors’ skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and asked West Indies to bat first. The Caribbean side couldn’t survive for long against the Indian bowling attack. They got bundled up only on the score of 114 runs in 23 overs.

Later in the second innings, India also looked in trouble while chasing the target as they were continuous. Although India ended up winning the match easily the fans were not too happy with the intent of the Indian batters, they showed in chasing the target.

Fans took to Twitter and reacted with contrasting emotions and opinions on the performance of Team India against a side that didn’t even qualify for the World Cup.

Here’s how fans reacted:

A reshuffle in batting order

Interestingly, the hot topic of discussion after yesterday’s match was the thought process of the Indian team management while doing too many experiments in the batting order. Notably, skipper Rohit Sharma and former skipper, Virat Kohli who usually come to bat in opening and number three, didn’t come to bat till number 5 or 6. Rohit Sharma came to bat at number 7 and Virat Kohli didn’t even get a chance to bat as he was placed below Rohit in the batting order.

Speaking of the action of the match, West Indies completely surrendered to the heroics of India’s star spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja. Yadav with his outstanding bowling, scalped 4 wickets in 3 overs by conceding just 6 runs and bowled 2 maiden overs.  Whereas, Ravindra Jadeja scalped three wickets at the cost of 37 runs in 6 overs. Other than Jadeja and Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Mukesh Kumar, and Shardul Thakur also picked one wicket each for India.

While chasing the target, it was young opener Ishan Kishan who took charge for India and scored a crucial half-century. He scored 52 runs with 7 boundaries and a six. On the back of his knock, the men in blue managed to cross the line in 22.5 overs, scoring 118 runs for the loss of 5 wickets and winning the match by 5 wickets.
