It was not a night to remember for Portugal and their legendary skipper Cristiano Ronaldo during the quarter-final of the FIFA World Cup 2022. Ronaldo’s men were locking horns against Morocco in the QF of the 22nd edition of the tournament. Meanwhile, there were also media reports and rumours that the Morocco star Sofiane Boufal went on to demean Ronaldo and enjoyed the latter crying after the match.
Now, Boufal himself has taken to an Instagram story to clear the air over all the rumours and completely denied the fact. He admitted that he never disrespected the Portuguese international after Morocco’s win against his team.
Here’s a look at Sofiane’s recent Instagram story:
Speaking of the action of the match between Morocco and Portugal, the former took a lead in the match when Youssef En-Nesyri score the first goal of the match in the 42nd minute of the match, just three minutes before the whistle of half-time. Morocco maintained this lead till the end of the match.
In the injury time, they could have another goal to their name in the scoresheet but Walid Cheddira was given the red card by the referee in the 93rd minute of the match.
Talking about other stats of the match, it was Portugal dominated in most of the parts of the match as they had a ball possession of 74% in comparison to 26% of Morocco. Apart from that, Portugal also smashed 12 shots including 3 on target alongside 663 passes which were way too more than the 247 passes of Morocco.
