Pakistan batter Sohaib Maqsood has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to a back injury he sustained in the National T20 Cup. The batter was drafted into the Pakistan squad for the limited overs series against England after some fine performances in the Pakistan Super League. While Maqsood didn't too much against England, Pakistan identified him as one of the players they can invest in for the future and stuck to him for the T20 World Cup.

The news of Maqsood being dropped from the Pakistan World Cup squad was confirmed by renowned sports broadcaster Sawera Pasha. “Gutted to announce that Sohaib Maqsood has been ruled out of T20 World Cup due to back injury. Replacement will be announced soon. Replacement teaser: palat kay araha ho main phir.

Sohaib Maqsood too shared a heartfelt message on his official Twitter account. “The moment we realize that everything happens by the will of Allah, all our worries begin to fade.”

Meanwhile, the replacement for Maqsood is expected to be announced soon. If reports are to be believed then veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik is likely to replace him. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently made three changes to their T20 World Cup squad and added Fakhar Zaman, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Haider Ali to the team. However, Malik was not considered which left many baffled considering the amount of experience he brings to the table.

Pakistan team is currently in Lahore and will depart for the UAE on October 15. The team opens their campaign against India on October 24 in Dubai.
