'Special talent'- Twitter pleased as Dinesh Chandimal continues his excellent form in Test Cricket against Pakistan

Dinesh Chandimal has been in incredible form for Sri Lanka of late. He had a fantastic outing in the second Test match against Australia, where he scored a double century. His brilliance has continued in the Test series against Pakistan as well.

In the ongoing first Test at the Galle International Stadium, Chandimal scored twin half-centuries with the bat. He was Sri Lanka's highest run-scorer in both the innings of the match. In the first innings, he scored 76 runs in 115 balls with 10 fours and one six. He followed it up with an unbeaten knock of 94 runs in 139 balls with five fours and two sixes in the second innings.

In the second innings, Sri Lanka was reduced to 267/8 at one point, but he stuck around with the tail to get Sri Lanka to a total of 339 runs. Earlier, the hosts had scored 222 runs in the first innings, with the help of his half-century.

Pakistan followed it up with a score of 218 runs, handing Sri Lanka a lead of four runs. Pakistani skipper Babar Azam was the highest scorer of the match with 119 runs in 244 balls, with 11 fours and two sixes in the innings. Nobody else could do much in the innings as Mohammad Rizwan was the next highest run scorer with 19 runs. Dinesh Chandimal helped Sri Lanka set a target of 344 runs for Pakistan to chase down.

As for his performances, Chandimal has played with consistency this year. He has returned the figures of 66(148), 39*(135), 124(219), 0(1), 13(21), 206*(326), 76(115), and 94*(139) this year. In eight innings this year, Chandimal has scored 618 runs at an average of 123.60 average, including two hundreds and three fifties.
