Along with David Warner, Kane Williamson and the team’s assistant coach Brad Haddin have also joined the SRH team in Chennai. In a setback to the Sunrisers ahead of the new IPL season, Australian cricketer Mitchell Marsh pulled out of the competition, citing bubble fatigue. After Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh opted out of the IPL, the Hyderabad-based side signed English opening batsman Jason Roy. The franchise signed him for his base price of INR 2 crore. Jason Roy was in great form in the recently-concluded series against India.

David Warner was the highest run-scorer for SRH in IPL 2020

Last year, the Sunrisers finished third in the IPL 2020 points table. After enduring a slow start, the Hyderabad-based franchise won four of their last five matches to secure their place in the playoffs. However, they were defeated by Delhi Capitals. David Warner has been the backbone of SRH over the years, and the last IPL season in UAE was no different. The Australian batsman finished as the third-highest run-getter, scoring 548 runs in 16 matches. The southpaw averaged 39.14 while batting at a strike rate of 134.64. The 34-year-old also registered four half-centuries.

Sunrisers Hyderabad has once again backed their core bunch of players in IPL 2021. The side has not made too many changes to their roster. They were also conservative at the mini-auction earlier this year, bringing in only three new players. Their most expensive buy at the auction turned out to be Kedar Jadhav, who was signed at his base price of INR 2 crore. David Warner guided SRH to the IPL title in 2016. The franchise has made the playoffs in every IPL season since then. The Australian batsman will be eager to go a step further this edition and deliver a second IPL title for the franchise.
