The India tour of Sri Lanka is all set to kick start tomorrow, 18 July, with the two teams clashing in the first ODI. The ‘Men in Blue’ have sent a team of white-ball specialists and are missing their first-choice players who are in England for the five-match Test series against the ‘Three Lions’. The visitors will be led by Shikhar Dhawan while Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be his deputy. Meanwhile, the young team will be headed by veteran Rahul Dravid who will don the coach’s hat.

The Lankan Lions, on the other hand, will see this series as an opportunity to salvage their pride after suffering utmost humiliation in England where they failed to win a single match. They will be confident of beating a relatively inexperienced India on turf. However, the loss of Kusal Perera, who has been ruled out due to a shoulder injury, is a massive blow. Perera was one of the few players in the current set-up that can be deemed as a match-winner.

India too are not short on quality and boast of some very promising youngsters in their squad. The series was set to start on July 13 but was pushed back to July 18 after Sri Lanka batting coach Grant Flower tested positive for COVID-19.
