West Indies batter, Shimron Hetmyer has made his way back to the Rajasthan’s camp. For the unversed, he left the franchise’s bio-bubble for the birth of his first child. In a video posted by Rajasthan, Hetmyer gave the news of his departure to his fans while also explaining the reason behind it.

Much to the delight of everyone in the Rajasthan camp, Hetmyer has now returned to the team’s camp in Mumbai. The franchise recently posted a tweet, urging West Indies batter to come back. To this, Hetmyer replied in Hindi, “Idhar hi hoon”, which translated to “I am here only.”

In the absence of the Hetmyer, Rassie van der Dussen and Jimmy Neesham played one game each but neither of them couldn’t dish out any significant performance. Despite the absence of Hetmyer, Rajasthan managed to post a formidable score of 178 runs on the board in the last game against Lucknow.

Later, they restricted Lucknow to 154, thereby winning the game by 24 runs. With that win, Rajasthan have reached number two on the points table with 8 wins in 13 matches. Shimron Hetmyer’s addition to the team should strengthen the batting unit. He has fared exceedingly well with the bat this season.

In 11 matches, he has managed to score 291 runs at an average and strike rate of 72.75 and 166.29 respectively. Unlike the previous matches, the pacers bowled great lengths in the last game. Trent Boult starred with the ball as he finished with returns of 2 for 18 in 4 overs. After the game, Boult talked about the overall performance of the team and how happy he is playing for a new franchise.

“Some days are better than others. Nice to get wickets at the top. I have got a simple game with the ball. Good catch from Neesham. The boys did talk about some intensity as this was a crucial game for us.”

“I am surprised that I am talking about my batting in a press conference. We can bring our right attitude and chase a ball. I think this is a tough place to bowl. I am enjoying here at a new franchise. A great opportunity”, Boult concluded.
