According to the reports, Chennai all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the Indian T20 League 2022. He suffered an injury in the upper body during Chennai's game against Bangalore on the 4th of May. Notably, he missed the match against Delhi on Sunday as he wasn't fit.

According to The Times of India, Jadeja's injury has not improved, despite it being assessed by the Chennai camp. As a result, the team management is hesitant to put their star player in danger by forcing him to participate in any of their remaining games.

"The CSK camp assessed his injury for the last couple of days but it hasn’t exactly got better. Now with the tournament reaching its business end and CSK to take on Mumbai Indians on Thursday, the team management may not risk him any further," the Times Of India report said.

Meanwhile, the all-rounder was appointed as the captain of the team ahead of the 15th season of the tournament. However, he did not get the best results for the team. He led the team in eight games and lost six of them. His personal form was also hampered due to the added responsibility. Ravindra Jadeja struggled with both, the bat, as well as the ball this season. He scored just 116 runs and took five wickets in 10 matches.

As a result, he handed the captaincy back to MS Dhoni to focus on his game. The men in yellow won two of their next three games. They must now win all of their remaining games in order to qualify for the playoffs. Furthermore, if either Bangalore or Rajasthan win one more game, Chennai will be out of contention for the playoffs.

Chennai's next game is against their arch-rivals Mumbai on May 12 at the Wankhede Stadium. With four victories in 11 games, The MS Dhoni-led side is presently ninth on the points table. Following the game against Mumbai, they will play Gujarat on May 15 and Rajasthan on May 20.
