The first of the five-match T20i series between India and South Africa witnessed some exceptional hitting from Rassie van der Dussen and David Miller. The two completely turned around the game for the Proteas and won the match with a few balls to spare.
The wicket was never easy to bat on as it was two-paced. Most of the batters from both teams played a few false shots throughout the match. An incident that caught everyone's eye was at the bank end of the game. Rassie was struck on his pads in the 19th over by Harshal Patel. The on-field umpire declared it not out, but Patel was convinced that the ball was hitting the stumps and took the DRS.
The ball trajectory was hitting the stumps. However, the batter had moved three meters ahead of the crease to play the shot, which is considered the umpire's call. England's Saqib Mahmood has opined that Van der Dussen should have been out as he was struck plumb in front of the stumps. "Not sure about that 3m rules, Van Der Dussen was as plumb as they come," he wrote in a tweet.

As for the match, Indian batters set South Africa a lofty target of 212. Ishan Kishan batted brilliantly, scoring 76 runs in 48 balls. He was then backed up by the majority of the other batters, who put up some good cameos. Shreyas Iyer (36 runs in 27 balls), Rishabh Pant (29 runs in 16 balls), and Hardik Pandya (31 runs in 12 balls) contributed to the team's total.
South Africa found it slightly difficult early on during the chase. They lost three batters for a total of 81 runs in nine overs. However, David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen completely changed things around. They put up an exceptional display of power-hitting to take the team through. They scored 131 runs together, with Miller scoring 64 runs in 31 balls and Van der Dussen scoring 75 runs in 46 balls.
