Star India women pacer, Renuka Singh Thakur won the Emerging Women’s Cricketer of the Year 2022. She had a fantastic run for team India across both the white-ball formats. Renuka Singh made her T20I debut against Australia in October 2021 and made her ODI debut against New Zealand in February 2022.

So, it was a rollercoaster ride for the star pacer. However, as of now, she has played seven ODIs. Renuka Singh has taken 18 wickets in those matches at an economy of 4.62. On the other hand, she has played 25 T20Is so far for team India. She has taken 23 wickets in those matches, at an economy of 6.48.

Renuka Singh was the highest wicket-taker in the Commonwealth Games 2022

Renuka Singh defeated Australia's Darcie Brown, England's Alice Capsey, and her teammate Yastika Bhatia to win the Emerging Women's Cricketer of the Year 2022. In 2022, Renuka Singh took 40 wickets in 29 matches for India across all two formats. Fans also enjoyed her performance as she had the opportunity to fill the void of the great Jhulan Goswami.

The Governing Body of Cricket have also acknowledged her performance so far in the international arena. Among 18 ODI wickets, eight came in two appearances against England, and seven in India’s series with Sri Lanka. Her performance in the Commonwealth Games and Women’s Asia Cup was the talk of the town. In the Commonwealth Games, Renuka Singh took 11 wickets in five matches, at an economy of 5.47.  She was the highest wicket-taker in the tournament. 

In the Women’s Asia Cup, she took six wickets in six matches, at an economy of 4.94. In the final against Sri Lanka Women, Renuka Singh took three wickets for five runs in three overs. She won the player of the match award also. But, the Governing Body of Cricket termed her performance against Australia Women as a memorable one on their website. It was the first match of the Commonwealth Games where she took four wickets for 18 runs in four overs. Before chasing 155 runs successfully, Australia were in trouble after losing four wickets for 34 runs, courtesy of vicious swinging deliveries from Renuka Singh.
