Pakistan’s star pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi is gaining new heights in international cricket with every passing day. After being a threat to most of the batters in international cricket and franchise leagues across the world, the lethal pacer is all set to make his appearance in the second season of DP World International League T20 (ILT20).

He has been picked by the Desert Vipers for the second season of the tournament. Currently, the Khyber Agency-based pacer has scalped 229 wickets so far in 162 T20 appearances. In these appearances, he has 5 four-wicket hauls and 5 five-wicket hauls to his name.

Desert Vipers announced Shaheen Afrid's addition to the team with an official statement where they mentioned the preparations for the second season of this blockbuster tournament.

"All-format Pakistan superstar Shaheen Shah Afridi spearheads the new players' signings list for the DP World ILT20 Season 2. The fast bowler who has made a stunning impression around the world with his pacy left-arm deliveries (229 wickets in 161 T20s) will play for the inaugural season’s finalists Desert Vipers," read the statement released by Desert Vipers.

Apart from that, the franchise also cleared that the complete list of the new additions to the squad will be released in the coming few weeks.

Shaheen himself also spoke about his appearance in the International League T20 (ILT20). He expressed his excitement to join the Desert Vipers. "I am excited to join the Desert Vipers. I know there are many Pakistan cricket fans in the UAE, and I hope they will support our team in the upcoming DP World ILT20," said the 23-year-old pacer.

Earlier, he was offered the captaincy of a franchise in the inaugural edition of the International League T20I; but it was not possible as the then PCB chief Ramiz Raja didn’t allow Pakistan cricketers to be a part of the tournament.
