MS Dhoni, the former team India captain, is bracing for the Indian T20 League and one could understand that it might well be his last appearance in the highly-competitive tournament. That being said, an image of Dhoni’s recent ad which features him as a police cop is doing rounds on the internet and the fans are leaving no stone unturned to make it go viral.

Dhoni’s ardent fans, who shared the images on the internet, claimed that the right-handed batter could feature in any movie and would fit in any role. Notably, the former team India captain has been featured in numerous ads and there was a time when people used to go crazy over his ‘helicopter shot’ ad for a beverage company.

Turning back the clock, Dhoni looked young and fans requested the veteran to return to form in the upcoming season as well. The wicketkeeper enjoyed a great run, individually, in the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League although a captaincy mishap saw the Chennai franchise leaping down the points table just above the Mumbai camp.

Either of Ben Stokes or Ajinkya Rahane to lead Chennai in 2024?

That being said, Ravindra Jadeja was removed from captaincy in the middle of the tournament last year and it remains to be seen if either Ben Stokes or Ajinkya Rahane would be tasked to lead the season post-Dhoni’s retirement, prior to the start of the next edition.

For the unversed, the Chennai camp’s think tank roped in the star English allrounder for a whopping INR 16.5 crore and it is upon Stokes to bring a turnaround in a highly-respected franchise. If at all Chennai manage to win the title this time around and match Mumbai’s record of the most number of titles (5), it would become a great legacy and a perfect end for Dhoni’s Indian T20 league career.

With Chennai lingering only on their hope to find a new captain, Rahane and Stokes would have a huge responsibility to step up for the team and play the game-changer role in the upcoming 2023 edition and beyond as well.
