Rajasthan Royals skipper and star batter, Sanju Samson played a sensational knock of 60 runs off just 32 balls with three boundaries and six sixes to his name yesterday against Gujarat Titans. He was a key factor in Rajasthan’s amazing win over the Titans at their home ground Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Skipper Samson settled and made ground for the blistering batter Shimron Hetmyer who later, smashed a knock of 56 runs off just 26 balls with two boundaries and five sixes; he also finished the game for the visitors.
Apart from that, the former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has lauded the performance and intent of Sanju Samson while batting in the Indian Premier League. The turbanator encountered a question regarding the courage of Samson to which he replied in a praising note for the right-hander.
"Huge, a captain's knock. Such players have more courage than other players. He is a special player. He had an even bigger impact than Hetmyer because he made the game and Shimron Hetmyer finished it,” said Harbhajan Singh to Star Sports during a post-match conversation.
Here's what Harbhajan Singh said further for Sanju Samson
"If you have confidence in your ability, you can take the match deep. MS Dhoni used to take the game deep because he didn't have any doubt over his ability. He knew that if he stays till the end, he will finish the match,” he added later.
Later on, Harbhajan Singh also lavished praises on the explosive Caribbean batter Shimron Hetmyer and the latter’s batting abilities to rescue Rajasthan Royals from a miserable position to win the match.
"Hetmyer also did that. He stayed till the end and finished the match but who took the match till the end - Sanju Samson. This player has so much ability, he should play for India,” said Harbhajan Singh.
Talking about Rajasthan Royals, they will now play their sixth match in the tournament at their home ground on Wednesday, the 19th of April. Samson’s men will play this match against the Lucknow Super Giants who are coming off with a defeat in their last match.
