The Indian team is all set to tour Ireland for a two-match T20I series, starting on the 26th of June. The tour will include a 17-man squad, with several young players having an opportunity to prove their mettle. Hardik Pandya will lead the Indian team for the first time. Many senior players are busy on India's tour of England, which has allowed young players to be a part of the Indian team in Ireland.

While many young players are given the opportunity to make a case for the 20-20 World Cup, Sunil Gavaskar believes Rahul Tewatia should have been given the same opportunity. With a number of remarkable knocks over the last couple of years, Tewatia established himself as a terrific finisher in the Indian T20 League. Sunil Gavaskar, a former Indian cricket captain, believes he should have been part of the Indian side touring Ireland.

"Rahul Tewatia, the ice-man. Sometimes you feel if it's such a touch-and-go situation maybe take an additional member. Instead of 15, take an additional member because it's hard to leave somebody who has done so consistently well.  He was superb. He had won matches, which looked lost. He went in there and smashed the ball around very intelligently, very cleverly. He was also able to play around the off-side not just on the on-side," he said while speaking to Star Sports.

"Somebody showing that kind of temperament, maybe add a 16th man and take him to Ireland. Just recognising what he has done. Just giving that message ‘you are on the fringe, just work a little bit harder'," he added.

The two matches will be played at the same venue in Dublin on the 26th and the 28th of June.
