Legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar stated that RCB should consider sending AB de Villiers to open the batting. Gavaskar was mesmerized by AB de Villiers' performance against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday. AB de Villiers scored an unbeaten 75 off only 42 balls. The knock turned out to be the difference between both the teams as Delhi Capitals lost the match by just one run. With this victory. RCB is leading the points table with 10 points. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals are placed third.
Seeing ABD smash all corners of the ground, Sunil Gavaskar claimed that he would pay to watch the batsman play all 20 overs in a T20 match. He described AB de Villiers' unbeaten 75-run innings against Delhi Capitals as amazing and magical. Gavaskar also opined that he would love to see more of AB de Villiers' batting. The former suggested that the 37-year-old should open the innings for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the upcoming games.
AB de Villiers became the second overseas batsman to score 5,000 runs
South African cricketer AB de Villiers has now become the second overseas batsman to score 5,000 runs in IPL. David Warner is the only other overseas cricket in the elite 5000-run club. The list also includes four Indian cricketers. Virat Kohli tops the list of most runs in the Indian Premier League with 6,041 runs. He is then followed by CSK batsman Suresh Raina (5,472), Shikhar Dhawan (5,456), Rohit Sharma (5,431) and Warner (5,390). West Indies batsman Chris Gayle is in line to join the 5000-run club. Gayle has scored 4891 runs in 138 matches.

In response, DC lost Shikhar Dhawan and Steve Smith early. Prithvi Shaw looked good, but he could only score 21 runs. Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer smashed half-centuries and kept DC in the competition. A brilliant last over by Mohammed Siraj helped RCB to win the game by 1 run. The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will play their next match on 30th April 2021. They will face Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
