Sunil Gavaskar expressed his opinion on the Indian team's upcoming tour of England. He believes India has a good chance of winning the Test series against England. The pitch and the condition in England would also factor in determining the winner.
Earlier this year during the Test series against India, Team England expressed their disappointment about the pitches in Chennai. They lost 3 out of the four matches in the Test series.
After the 3-1 loss against India, Joe Root stated in a press conference that their team would prepare really nice wickets during the England Tour. He believes that the only way to grow as a team is to be able to score consistently wherever they go.
The Indian team has a good chance of winning the five-match Test series
However, Sunil Gavaskar wrote in his column for The Telegraph that the Indian team might have to play on green-tops during the upcoming Five-match Test Series against England. However, he noted that this might be advantageous to the Indian team. The spin-friendly conditions would equip India to provide stiff competition to the England batsmen. Gavaskar believes that it is going to be a good summer for the Indian team in England.
The former Indian Captain, Sunil Gavaskar, stated that it is not possible to predict the outcome of the England Tour. But he believes that India might be in with a chance to win the series. After the World Test Championship (WTC) finals against New Zealand, India would have a break of approximately 6 weeks. This time could be utilized to prepare for the Test series against England. This might pave the way for an Indian win at the Test Series set to begin in August.
During the last England Tour, India lost by 4-1 even after playing really well under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. So the team will have more to prove this time around and Gavaskar has full faith in them.
The Indian team is currently in isolation at their hotel in Mumbai. The team has to go through a compulsory 8-day quarantine before they depart for England tour. The team would have to quarantine for 10 days in England as well after reaching there. The Indian team would then start practicing for the World Test Championship Final. The WTC final would begin on 18th June. After the conclusion of WTC, the Indian team would start practicing for the five-match Test series against England.
