Suresh Batra was a Delhi-based coach who trained Virat Kohli in his teenage years. He was an assistant coach to Rajkumar Sharma, Kohli’s childhood coach.

Reputed sports journalist Vijay Lokapally announced the news of Batra’s demise in a tweet. Suresh Batra passed away on Thursday. He had finished doing his daily puja after which he collapsed. Rajkumar Sharma said that Batra‘s loss is like losing his younger brother. They had known each other since 1985.

According to various reports, Virat Kohli had started training under Batra and Sharma at the age of nine. Besides Virat Kohli, Batra also trained Manjot Kalra. Karla had scored a hundred in the 2018 Under-19 World Cup final against Australia.

Virat rose through the ranks of Delhi cricket to become one of the legends of the game. He made his international cricket debut in 2008. Since then, he has featured in 91 Tests, 254 ODIs, and 90 T20Is.

The Indian skipper has amassed 7490 runs in Tests, 12169 runs in one-day cricket, and 3159 runs in T20Is. Virat Kohli has scored a total of 70 international hundreds to date.

The 32-year-old batsman was part of the World Cup-winning squad in 2011. The team was then led by MS Dhoni. It was his maiden World Cup.

Virat Kohli is the most successful Indian captain in the Test format of Cricket. He has led the team to win 36 games out of 60 games. India is currently the top-ranked team in Test Cricket according to the ICC Test ranking.

Virat Kohli is also the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League. He has scored 6076 runs from 199 IPL matches. He has a strike rate of 130.41. In the T20 league, Kohli has five hundred and forty fifties under his belt. He is the only batsman to cross the 6000 run mark in IPL.

Virat Kohli will next lead the Indian Team in England, to play against New Zealand in the WTC final. The team will then clash against the host nation in a five-test series.
