There was a time in the Indian T20 League when Suresh Raina was synonymous with the Chennai team. He played for the team from 2008 to 2015 and then from 2018 to 2021. In 2016 and 2017, Raina was forced to play for the now-defunct Gujarat franchise. The reason for that was the Yellow brigade's suspension from the tournament due to spot-fixing and betting.

They returned in the 2018 season and with that, it was a homecoming for the left-hander. He didn't participate in the 2020 season citing COVID-19 and bio-bubble fatigue. The next year, the 2011 World Cup winner played for the team but didn't have the desired results with the bat. Subsequently, he was released from the team and went unsold in this year's auction. During the Indian T20 League 2022, he did a commentary stint with the broadcasters.

Recently, he was seen practising wearing the franchisee's practice kit. Now, the 2013 Champions Trophy winner has expressed his desire to play in the 2023 season of the cash-rich league.

I have been working really hard: Suresh Raina

The retired India cricketer has said that he has been working hard and has spent a lot of time in the nets. The Uttar Pradesh player added that he is focusing on the basics and not thinking too much about the 2023 player auctions. He further added that he would love to make a return in the league and get some incredible bids during the player auction.

"Yes, I have been working really hard and spending lot of time in the nets. I am focusing on keeping my basics intact and not too much thinking of IPL 2023 auction. But I would love to make a return in the league and will expect some incredible bids on my name," said Suresh Raina.

Talking about Raina, he has played 205 games for the four-time winners. In these games, he has 5528 runs at an average of 32.52 and a strike rate of 136.76 including a highest score of 100 not out.
