Former India and Chennai player, Suresh Raina has picked the next skipper for Chennai, and it's not Ben Stokes. The latter was brought by the Yellow Brigade for 16.25 crores after battling with the likes of Rajasthan, Bangalore, Lucknow, and Hyderabad. He has been touted as the next Chennai skipper after MS Dhoni retires from the game as he is set to retire after the 2023 season.
Meanwhile, four-time Indian T20 League winner with the Yellow brigade, Raina has named Ruturaj Gaikwad as captain. The former added that Dhoni has a good brain and he wants Gaikwad to do well at the highest level.
“I want Ruturaj Gaikwad to be nurtured around him. Mahi bhai has a good brain, he's around the boys. I would say Ruturaj Gaikwad, he has done really well, I want him to do well for the country as well as for Chennai,” Raina told JioCinema when he was asked on who should succeed Dhoni as skipper.
"Rutu, good luck for your captaincy, brother,” Raina said.

MS Dhoni was happy to know after Ben Stokes; signing: Kasi Viswanathan
After Stokes' signing, Tamil Nadu's capital city-based side's CEO, Viswanathan revealed MS Dhoni's happiness. Kasi said that Dhoni was happy to after the team signed the England all-rounder.
"Very excited to get Stokes and we were lucky also because he came up at the end. We wanted an allrounder and MS was very happy that we got Stokes. Captaincy option is there but it’s a call MS will take with time. Kyle Jamieson was injured so maybe many others didn’t look at him. We had information from Fleming that he had recovered and was raring to go. Chennai looks bright and I hope we do well this season. We follow the process always and that will help us do well."
