The action returned in the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday, with Mumbai Indians (MI) hosting defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai for game number 57 of the season. The Mumbai Indians have gained momentum after a typically shaky start to the season; they just defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by a decisive margin of six wickets. The team with the "Golden Touch" currently is the Gujarat Titans, who have won two straight games.

The visitors won the toss, and Hardik Pandya chose to bowl first. However, the home team made the most of their invitation to bat first, scoring a mammoth 218/5. Suryakumar Yadav (103 off 49) hit a six off the last ball to bring up his maiden century in his IPL career.

He decorated his innings with 11 boundaries and six maximums. 'Sky' hit the three-figure mark by hitting a six on Alzarri Joseph's final delivery of the innings. He is the third Indian, following Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma, to ever achieve an IPL century for MI.

At the same time, Rashid Khan returned with a four-wicket haul for the defending champions. His impressive figures of 4/30 in four overs made him the pick of the bowlers for Titan. Mohit Sharma scalped the remaining wicket that fell for MI.

Next, in the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League, fans will be treated to a doubleheader with the Sunrisers Hyderabad hosting the Lucknow Super Giants at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad in the day's first game. The second game will feature Delhi Capitals taking on Punjab Kings in the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
