Asking Mumbai Indians to bat first at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy got KKR off to a brilliant start. The Tamil Nadu player dismissed opening batsman Quinton de Kock (2) cheaply. However, Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma steadied the ship for the defending champions.

Bumrah and Boult's heroics once again sailed MI out of trouble

Rohit and Yadav were the only two batsmen who managed to impress against KKR's impressive bowling unit. The duo posted a 76-run partnership for the second wicket. Suryakumar scored a quickfire 56 off 36 deliveries consisting of seven fours and two sixes. On the contrary, Rohit Sharma scored 43 off 32 balls. He picked up the crucial wickets of Kieron Pollard and Krunal Pandya. He also took three wickets in the final over to complete his fifer.

It was an incredible turnaround from Mumbai Indians as Bumrah and Boult's heroics in the death overs once again sailed them out of trouble. With 19 runs required off the last two overs, Bumrah and Boult gave away just four runs each of the 19th and 20 over, respectively. The pace duo helped to seal MI's first win of the 14th IPL season.
