Former Indian bowler Zaheer Khan stated that T Natarajan exceeded expectations on the 1st Day of the 4th Test against Australia. Natarajan scalped 2 crucial wickets on the 1st Day of the Gabba Test against the Aussies. With this, he also became the 300th player to represent the Blue army in the Test format. Natarajan’s victims were Matthew Wade and Marnus Labuschagne.
During a discussion, former cricketers Zaheer Khan and Ajay Jadeja praised the bowler on his debut in the final test of the 2020 Border-Gavaskar trophy. Zaheer Khan reckoned that T Natarajan stuck to his usual bowling style. This helped him to keep consistency, which in turn gave him the result he wanted. The Indian team has already suffered several blows in the form of injuries. In such a situation, there is a lot of pressure on the bowler to deliver. Zaheer felt that Natarajan did exactly that.
I am really impressed by the composure of T Natarajan - Ajay Jadeja
Former cricketer Ajay Jadeja expressed his joy on T Natarajan representing India in all 3 formats in just 44 days. During the T20I series between India and Australia, T Natarajan made his T20I debut. He got his chance after Varun Chakravarthy was out with an injury. The yorker specialist made his ODI debut first, followed by his T20I and his Test debut for the Men in blue.
Jadeja reckoned that it was almost a perfect Test debut for the 29-year-old bowler. T Natarajan has no experience playing in the longest format of the game. Moreover, he has not even played a single match for India A. Despite this, Jadeja felt that T Natarajan bowled as if he belonged in the Test format.
With India’s star bowler Jasprit Bumrah sidelined, India needed a pace bowler to fill the void that Bumrah left. Jadeja felt that bringing T Natarajan for Bumrah was the ideal change. Natarajan scalped the crucial wicket of Marnus Labuschagne. Marnus amassed a century against India and looked to score even more runs. Eventually, Natarajan dismissed him for 108 runs.
Natarajan also picked the crucial wicket of Matthew Wade, who was dismissed for 45. Both the teams are fighting tooth and nail to win the final Test and ultimately the series. With such nail-biting action unfolding, it will be interesting to see who gets the last laugh. Will Australia get to keep their record unbroken? Or will India do the unthinkable and win the Test series. Only time will tell.
