South Africa batter Faf du Plessis is all set to lead Bangla Tigers in the upcoming edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2021. This competition will be held after the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup.

The veteran batter is playing leagues across the globe to try to be in the reckoning in the shortest format for South Africa. Currently, he is captaining St Lucia Kings in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and after that, he has the second half of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) set to be held in UAE from September 19.

The 38-year-old is a fighter and always loves to evolve on his game. Du Plessis’s calm head and his wealth of experience makes him stand out from the rest. Also, he comes with good credentials as a leader and the Bangla Tigers would be hoping to bank on his class as a player and as a captain. Interestingly, this is the first time the South African batter is going to feature in the T10 league and, he is looking forward to making the most of this opportunity.

“It is an exciting new format to be part of. I am looking forward to joining forces with some of the world’s biggest names in this league and representing team Bangla Tigers. It is going to be a thrilling time for the game of cricket,” Du Plessis was quoted as saying by The National News.

“It’s heart-warming to see leagues like T10 putting in so much hard work and offering such exciting formats for sports enthusiasts. I can’t wait to get going,” the 37-year-old added. Meanwhile, Bangla Tigers owner Mohammed Yasin Chowdhury was also delighted to get a player of Du Plessis’ caliber on board.
