The Board of Control for Cricket in India has put a hold on the tender plans for the two new Indian Premier League teams. BCCI had claimed that the two new IPL teams would be auctioned in May during the forthcoming IPL 2021 edition's final stages. A senior BCCI member stated that 10 IPL teams would roll on from next year. The bidding process and finalization of the new teams will be completed by the month of May this year. Once the IPL franchises are finalized, respective teams can start their operational work, which takes considerable time. However, now the BCCI had unveiled plans to introduce two new teams in IPL 2022 considering the COVID-19 situation. IPL 2021 had to be postponed as different COVID-19 breaks arose in the bio-secure bubble of a few IPL teams.
