Team India captain Rohit Sharma spoke about the difficulties of the team to assemble a potent pace bowling threat since many of their fast bowlers are injured. In light of the circumstances, they are forced to manage the resources at hand for the West Indies tour that will commence on Wednesday.

Mohammed Shami, a veteran bowler for India, is not playing in the Test series against the West Indies. Umesh Yadav has been dropped, and Jasprit Bumrah is still yet to recover from his long-term back injury. Mohammed Siraj, Jaydev Unadkat, Shardul Thakur, Navdeep Saini, and Mukesh Kumar will all be part of Siraj's pace attack in their place.

Rohit was questioned about India's skilled bowling assault for the red-ball series during a news conference prior to the first Test versus the West Indies in Dominica. He said, “Fast bowlers have claimed a lot of wickets here (in West Indies). People get injured, and we have to rotate players, unfortunately. Hamare pass fast bowlers ki line nahi lagi hui hain (we don’t have a line of fast bowlers).”

Nevertheless, the Indian skipper voiced faith in the series' chosen bowler as he said, “Jaydev is not new. He has been playing for 10-12 years. Mukesh Kumar has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket.”

The 36-year-old added that it's critical to consider the big picture as the World Cup approaches. He said, “The World Cup is coming up; we need to consider that as well. We don’t have the luxury to focus on one particular series. We have to look ahead. It’s good in a way as we are getting a chance to create bench strength.”

The Mumbai Indians skipper then ended by speaking about the combination they are likely to play in the first test against West Indies. He said, "We’ll see what combination we can play. This will always be a challenge for Indian cricket because we play a lot. We have to give players enough breaks because we want them to be fresh.”
