The Indian cricket team management will pick the squad for the upcoming test series against England. After completing the on-going Border Gavaskar series team, India will head back home and face the England team the forthcoming month. As per the reports, the newly appointed chairman of the selection committee, Chetan Sharma will announce the squad on Tuesday for the first two Tests against England.
Fans will also know an update on the injury status of Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Jasprit Bumrah. Indian selectors Chetan Sharma, Harvinder Singh, Debasis Mohanty, Sunil Joshi, and Abey Kuruvilla will consider if Bumrah and Ashwin are fit for the first game against England in Chennai. The duo has missed out on the final Brisbane Test of the series against Australia due to injuries.
Ishant Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar to make a comeback?
India’s test specialist Ishant Sharma could make his return to the squad. His performance for Delhi in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy has been exceptional. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is also performing well for Uttar Pradesh. Ishant has so far scalped five wickets in four games whereas Bhuvneshwar has picked up four wickets from four outings.
For the upcoming clash against England, India will have their full-fledged squad back in action. Virat Kohli will return after missing out the ongoing series against Australia. It will be a tough call for the selection committee to accommodate Shardul Thakur, T Natarajan, and Washington Sundar. Considering their stunning performances in the final encounter against Australia, it will be unfair if the big players return to take their positions back.
Everyone will remember the ongoing Australian series as team India had to face a massive injury crisis. They lost all their blue-chip players due to injuries. Mohammad Shami was the first one to head back home, followed by Umesh Yadav. The list goes on with Ravindra Jadeja and Hanuma Vihari also ruled out after their outstanding efforts in the third Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The visitors also lost the services of Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin going into the final game of the series.
Navdeep Saini again broke down during the first innings in the fourth Test. However, he did return to bowl in the second innings. The first two games between India and England are to be played in Chennai. Later, both teams will head to Ahmedabad for the remaining third and fourth Test.
