Team India is likely to begin their pre-Sri Lanka tour quarantine in Mumbai on June 14. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has asked all the players to get their RT-PCR tests done. Once the Indian contingent arrives in Sri Lanka, all the players and the support staff will have to undergo quarantine for three more days. After completing the 3-day mandatory isolation, all the players will be commencing their training session in small groups from July 2 to July 4.

After the training period, the players will be allowed to begin training in a full-fledged manner from July 06. The first ODI game of the series will be played on July 12. With Virat Kohli and the team busy in England, a young Indian cricket team will play three ODIs and as many T20Is against Sri Lanka. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced the squad for India's upcoming tour to Sri Lanka. The Indian cricket board has selected 20 players in the team and five net bowlers. It is also known that Rahul Dravid will travel with the team as the coach, along with his NCA colleagues.

All six games between India and Sri Lanka will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo

Dhawan has been handed over the captaincy, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been named the vice-captain of the team. All six games will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The officials have decided to conduct all the matches in one venue in order to reduce travel amid the second wave of COVID-19.

Talking about Shikhar Dhawan, he has been one of the great performers in the white-ball format. The 35-year-old has so far played 142 ODIs and 64 T20Is. In those games, he has scored 7,500 runs cumulatively in the two formats. The batsman is anticipated to continue his run-scoring spree at the top of the batting order. Dhawan will also be responsible for guiding the young cricketers selected in the team. Young players like Chetan Sakariya, Varun Chakravarthy, Devdutt Padikkal, Krishnappa Gowtham, Nitish Rana, and Ruturaj Gaikwad will all earn their maiden India caps if given an opportunity to play in any of the six games.
