Teams that have made the most appearances in an IPL final

The IPL 2020 has come to an end. Mumbai Indians have been crowned as the champions for a record 5th time. Delhi Capitals tried their best to get their hands on the IPL trophy for the first time.

Here's the list of the top 5 teams that have managed to make the most appearances in an IPL final:

Chennai Super Kings

This team, led by the former Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, is the only team to have managed to make it to the finals a staggering 8 times. It has also managed to win the title on 3 occasions, second only to the current champions.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians have managed to make 5 appearances in an IPL final, winning it a record 5 times including this year. The first final appearance they made was in 2010, where they lost against Chennai Super Kings by 22 runs. The second appearance they made was in 2013, where they beat CSK by 23 runs. The third and fourth appearance was made in 2015 and 2017 respectively, where they managed to win on both occasions.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Led by the current Indian Captain Virat Kohli, RCB has managed to make 3 IPL final appearances. However, luck hasn’t been on their side as they lost all 3 of them. They are still looking to end their trophy drought.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Replacing the Deccan Chargers franchise, which managed to make only one IPL final appearance, SRH has managed to make 2 IPL final appearances. They won their first trophy in 2018 by beating RCB.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Owned by the Bollywood King Shahrukh Khan, this team of star-studded players has managed to make it to the final twice. They have won it on both occasions. They first beat the Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets, and later, beat Kings XI Punjab by 3 wickets to become the champions for the second time.
