In the first Test of The Ashes 2023, England and Australia produced one of the all-time great Test matches in the history of the game so far. Both teams delivered their all in the entire five days of the first Test of the Ashes 2023 at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. The match lasted till the last session and the Aussies won it in a thrilling manner by a close margin of only two wickets.

Speaking of the entire action of the match, the hostsโ€™ skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, England scored 393 runs for the loss of eight wickets before making a surprising declaration on the first day of the match. Later on, Australia fell 7 runs short of Englandโ€™s total and got all out on the score of 386 runs.

But the visitorsโ€™ skipper Pat Cummins had some other plans and he took Australia back in the game by scalping four wickets in the second innings and playing a vital role in bundling up England on the score 273 runs.

Australia were given the target of 281 runs in the fourth innings of the match; responding to which they lost three wickets on the score of 107 runs at the end of the game on the fourth day of the match.

England made a good comeback and scalped 8 wickets over Australia on their score of 227 runs remaining 54 runs still to chase. Eventually, it was the skipper Pat Cummins once again for Australia, now in batting, who took charge and finished the match in a thrilling style to take Australia across the line and win the match by two wickets.
