Jasprit Bumrah, the star pacer for India, is anticipated to miss the Test Championship final and the forthcoming Indian T20 League season as his injury recovery could take longer. Bumrah, who hasn't played cricket since September 2022, missed last year's 20-20 World Cup and Asia Cup.
Moreover, he was not selected for the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which is essential for India to qualify for the World Test Championship final. Bumrah's injury is fairly serious, according to a report on Cricbuzz, and sources say he may miss a significant amount of cricket in the months ahead, possibly even the Test Championship final should India make it.
According to the report, the Indian Cricket Board wants the premier pacer to play in the ODI World Cup in October-November, but they don't want to take any chances with his injury because he is still feeling uneasy.
The right-arm quick last appeared for his country in a T20I game against Australia at home on September 25, 2022. He has been rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru since then.
Previously, Bumrah was set to return to competitive cricket with Sri Lanka ODIs last month but was forced to withdraw due to a lack of recovery time. The premier pacer has come under fire recently for being injury-prone, as India heavily missed his services during last year's 20-20 World Cup.
In the meantime, the Mumbai team will look to rebound in the Indian T20 League 2023 after a disastrous season in which they finished at the bottom of the points table with only four wins in 14 matches.
Fans were shocked to learn that Bumrah will have to miss two important events. They'll have to wait a little longer for Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah to take the field together in the Indian T20 League. "Disappointed but not surprised by some people celebrating Jasprit Bumrah's injury reports. People forget that he is an Indian bowler first and we need him," a fan tweeted.
