Dinesh Karthik failed to win the match but Ravichandran Ashwin managed to pull it off for India against Pakistan
Speaking of the video, the Indian Cricket Board shared the video of players reaching Sydney for the second match of the World Cup. Then, Dinesh Karthik was seen saying: “Thank You for saving me yesterday. Thank You for saving me.” Listening to that, Ravichandran Ashwin was also seen with a big smile on his face.
Speaking about the context of this statement from Dinesh Karthik, it pointed out the match situation against Pakistan. Pakistan scored 159 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. In reply to that, Indian batters were struggling badly. But, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya steadied the ship with a partnership of 113 runs. In the last over, Mohammad Nawaz came to bowl and took the wicket of Hardik on the first delivery only.
Then, “Finisher” Dinesh Karthik came out to bat. However, India needed two runs off two balls when Dinesh Karthik tried a sweep. But, he missed it completely and Rizwan completed the stumping. Then, Ravichandran Ashwin came and kept his nerves to finish the match in favour of India. If India have lost that match, fans would have shown their rage at the veteran wicketkeeper. But, Ashwin’s calm and composed finish saved him from any criticism from the fans ahead of the next match.
