The first Test match of the South Africa tour of England ended way too quickly with the visitors clinching a win by an innings and 12 runs. The South African bowlers proved out to be way too good for England as they fell prey to them, ending their four-match winning streak.
Day three of the test match saw South African batters bundled out for 326 runs in the first session, giving them a 161-run lead. England, on the other hand, never looked at ease in their second innings. None of their batters could stick around for a long time at the crease, allowing bowlers to take regular wickets.
For South Africa, Anrich Nortje was at the top of his game as he took three wickets in the innings. Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, and Marco Jansen also took two wickets in the match, while Lungi Ngidi took one. England was eventually dismissed for 149 runs in 37.4 overs. Alex Lees and Stuart Broad, with their scores of 35 each, were the highest scorers for England.
Earlier in the match, England struggled to get off to a good start in the first innings, losing both of their openers early on day one. Kagiso Rabada dismissed both players early on to put his team in a good position. After that, Ollie Pope held on one end, but wickets continued to fall on the other. Pope batted at number three and reached his half-century.
The Chelsea born eventually scored 73 runs in 120 balls, contributing to the team's total of 165 runs. Rabada was on top form for South Africa as he finally made it onto the Lord's honour board with a five-wicket haul. He eventually finished with a total of 52/5 in 19 overs.
South Africa got off to a fast start in the second innings, with captain Dean Elgar and Sarel Erwee leading the charge. The two were responsible for an 85-run opening partnership. In the 23rd over, James Anderson got the breakthrough wicket of Elgar (47 runs in 81 balls). Erwee, on the other hand, continued to perform admirably, finishing with a score of 73 runs in 146 balls. The Proteas put up a score of 326 runs in their innings.

This Bazzball is like Rishabh Pant's test batting approach. Brilliant when it works out, but looks awful when it doesn't. #ENGvsSA
